Over 90% of Crimean residents wish to join Russia, according to a sociological survey conducted by the SREZ non-profit civil initiative for public opinion studies.

An overwhelming majority of the respondents (97%) criticized EuroMaidan consequences and the new Ukrainian authorities’ decision to limit rights of national minorities, the sociologists said, Interfax reported.

Nine in ten Crimean residents said the Kiev authorities were not legal, and they strongly opposed the activity of Ukrainian radicalized right-wing nationalist organizations (Right Sector, UNA-UNSO, Svoboda and others).

A third of the respondents argued that certain countries in Western Europe and the United States were creating a negative image of the events around Crimea.

Some 500 respondents were polled in large Crimean cities – Sevastopol, Simferopol, Yevpatoriya, Kerch and Feodosia.
