Moroccans Living Abroad, a new target in the political scene

The Moroccan community living abroad has become an increasingly important target in the political scene. Article 17 of the constitution has pushed both the Lamp and the Rose party to try and reach out to citizens abroad.

The article states that Moroccans living abroad are equal in rights to the ones living in the main land, including the right to elect and be elected.

It is important to note that this community is estimated to be around 4.5 million Moroccans.

The USFP has proposed that the abroad community should benefit from 30 seats in the House of Representatives. However, the Lamp party has recently outbid the Rose party by double.

The two major opposition sides seem to be reaching out to a new segment of the population that may hugely benefit them against the Islamist PJD in 2016.
