The Council of Europe to open an office soon in Morocco

Morocco and the Council of Europe signed in Brussels on Tuesday a memorandum of understanding for the upcoming establishment of a representative body of the Council of Europe in Rabat.

The agreement sets the binding terms on which the Office of the Council of Europe is to be established and operate in Morocco.

This pact was signed by Mbarka Bouaida, Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation and the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Thorbjorn Jagland, with the presence of Ambassador Menouar Alem, head of the Mission of Morocco to the European Union.

Under this agreement, Morocco agrees to the establishment a representation of the Council of Europe in Rabat, which will help strengthen the Moroccan-EU bonds of cooperation, and the coordination on the implementation of mutual interests in the areas of human rights, the rule of law and democracy.
