Russia-Ukraine Crisis: Europe’s Gas Supply At Risk

After the annexation of the Crimean Peninsula and the escalating tensions along the borders of the eastern regions of Ukraine, the Kremlin struck hard again by warning Europe on Thursday of a possible shutdown of the Gas supply if the EU doesn’t help Ukraine settle its colossal gas bill.

The EU relies heavily on the Russian gas supply, which puts then Union in a rough situation as they have to choose between bailing Ukraine’s debt – which far exceeds the bailout package that was offered by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) – or face Ukraine’s economic and territorial collapse.
