The Centre for the Promotion of Darija organized on Satursday a workshop on Arabic lexicography at the Hotel Idou Anfa, Casablanca.
This event highlighted the progress of Arabic Lexicographical Research on both a national and international level, which is important for promoting the language and its culture.
The Zagoura Education Foundation stressed on the importance of an established dictionary and the lexicon in order to better promote and develop Moroccan Arabic.
Indeed, the Regional Dictionary, lexical maps and the unification of dictionaries were the main topics addressed in the workshop, as they are of the essence to introduce Darija in practices and in curricula.
Finally, participants of the workshop raised the question about the variety of dictionaries and how they complement each other, as well as the potential role of an electronic dictionary.
