Yasmina Khadra, a well-known Algerian novelist, expressed his sorrow in regards to Algeria’s current situation, stressing that “the regime uses psychological tricks with Algerians” to give them “that feeling that everything is locked and that their battle for liberty and democracy is lost”.

In an interview published today by the French daily “Aujourdhui en France”, the writer said “the regime is autistic and ill, and has no longer any ethics considerations”.

“The regime is at bay,” he added.

“It’s just a cartel. Mafia is power. If this scheme perceives, we ‘re screwed ,” he was warned.

Referring to Abdelaziz Bouteflika running for a fourth term in the upcoming presidential elections, Yasmina Khadra said that Bouteflika discredited himself, among the public, the moment he accepted to run for a fourth term.

Khadra also added that “the majority of the population is manipulated by the state media, a media that considers the Algerian population as naive”.
