A 17 year-old Moroccan girl committed suicide on May 16th after her family forced her to stop her studies and to comply with a forced marriage, reported the Spanish news agency EFE.
According Abderrahman Bendiab, the regional coordinator of the organization “Do not touch my child” Fez-Meknes-section, the 17 year-old schoolgirl committed suicide by hanging.
The girl reportedly suffered “significant” psychological pressure from her family, Bendiab explained, adding that the Moroccan authorities have opened an investigation on the matter.
