Minister of Justice and Freedoms, Mustafa Ramid, announced the completion of a draft for the new Criminal Code. This draft will be a basis for a national debate between all concerned parties.
On Friday, during the opening ceremony of a seminar aimed at training young lawyers, Mr. Ramid declared that the new code has known the reform of older laws and the establishment of new ones.
He added that this project aims at aligning the Moroccan Criminal Code with the Constitution of 2011, international conventions, and the recommendations of the Supreme Committee for the reform of the justice system.
Mr. Ramid Also pointed out that this new code will be open for dialogue inside and outside of courts, within justice agencies, universities and the civil society; a national seminar will be held next month in order to listen to the views of all concerned institutions and individuals, before submitting a final draft to the government.
