On their official website, Arsenal announced the official signing of Chilean striker Alexis Sanchez from Barcelona for a long-term contract, without disclosing the value or duration of the agreement.

English newspapers expect the deal to be up to 32 million euros, which shows a rise of 10 million Euros in the player’s price thanks to his brilliant World Cup performance with the Chilean national squad. This deal comes to show the new financial approach of Arsenal’s coach Arsene Wenger in order to bring the Gunners back on the competition scene for the league title and the Champions League.

According to the Catalan press, Sanchez said that the sale will pave the way for Barcelona to settle the contract with Luis Suarez. The announcement of Barca’s new signing could be happening in the coming days, a deal that is expected to cost the Catalans about 80 million Euros.

The Chilean star stayed in Barcelona for 3 years where he scored 47 goals in 141 games. Along with that, he has helped the club in winning the Liga, the Copa Del Rey, the Spanish Super Cup, the European Super Cup and the Club’s World Cup.

International media praised Sanchez’s performance in this last World Cup in Brazil, where the Chileans’ journey ended in the last 16 after a penalty shootout loss against Brazil. Alexis succeeded in scoring twice in 4 games.

Sanchez has been called up for the Chilean national team in 71 games and scored 24 goals.

Alexis began his career with the team of Cobreloa, and Colo Colo in Chile, then moved to River Plate in Argentina. He has also played in the Italian Calcio with Udinese where he got the title of the “miracle child”, before joining Barcelona in 2011.
