Meditel Complains: ANRT Orders Maroc Telecom to Revise its Leased Line Offer

After that Meditel filed a complaint last March 2014 before the Agence Nationale de Reglementation de Telecom (ANRT), which is the official Moroccan watchdog in the telecoms sector, against Maroc Telecom tariffs which do not leave room for an appropriate gross profit margin to its competitors, the ANRT has ordered Maroc Telecom, which is the legal owner of the domestic fixed lines in Morocco, to amend some of the terms and conditions of its wholesale leased line access offer.

“The ANRT ruled that “Maroc Telecom must amend its wholesale tariffs in order to ensure a gross profit margin of 50% for alternative operators,” TeleGeography Reported.

“In addition, the telco must amend the maximum distance between operator and point of presence (PoP) to a range of between 35km and 100km and include intermediate bandwidth of 4Mbps, 8Mbps and 20Mbps with minimum gross profit margin of 20% for alternative providers,” the aforementioned source added.

“Maroc Telecom has been given a deadline of 1 January 2015 by which to revise the terms and conditions of its fixed interconnection offer,” the source closed.
