The official Twitter page of Real Madrid confirmed this morning the transfer of the international Colombian star James Rodriguez from As Monaco, before the man was presented this afternoon to the public.
The two teams have reached an agreement for the 23 year-old midfielder to play six seasons in Bernabeu.
James performances for Colombia at the World Cup prompted a move by Real Madrid for Rodriguez, who pushed Monaco to sell their talisman and have the chance to play for the Spanish giants.
The Vice-Chairman and chief executive of AS Monaco Vadim Vasilyev said: “AS Monaco is proud to have helped James Rodriguez reveal his talent to the world as he notably made his mark on the 2014 World Cup in Brazil winning the golden boot.”
He added that James is a fantastic player who achieved great things with AS Monaco. The club had no intention to sell the player, however the time came when the solution of a transfer was considered to be the most beneficial solution for all parties.”
No details of the fees of the transfer were revealed yet. However, Spanish (Marca) and French media estimate the transfer to be around 80 million Euros.
