FCO Warns its Citizens of “Increased Threat of Terrorism” in Morocco

The British Foreign Office (FCO) updated yesterday, on its official website its advice to British citizens travelling to Morocco, warning of a “general threat of terrorism” in the country.

The source said: “there is a general threat from terrorism. The Moroccan authorities have warned of an increased threat linked to the number of Moroccans belonging to international terrorist organizations operating in Syria and Iraq.”

The Moroccan Minister of Interior Mr. Hassad has confirmed few days ago that the country is on an alert state since the proclamation of a “Caliphate” by the Islamic State headed by Abu Bakr Al Bahdadi, a terrorist organization known as the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria (ISIS).

Morocco has put a hand and a leg to stop any prospective flow of Moroccans who belong to the aforementioned organization, and whom are planning to head back home.

2 days ago, the Moroccan authorities said that they have finished building a 40 Kms electronic fence that was erected from the Moroccan city of Saaidia to the Benni Hamdoune tribe, along the borders with Algeria.
