Tourism: Good Performance In The First Half Of 2014

At the end of 2013, the tourism sector in Morocco has noted an increase of 8% in the number of tourists compared to 2010, and has reached the goal of attracting 10 million annual tourists. Foreign currency earnings in the sector during the same period have amounted to 58 billion dirhams, a 2% increase compared to 2010.

The tourism business has maintained its rate of growth during the first half of this year. At the End of May, arrivals at border crossing points have increased by 9% compared to the same period of last year, and 17% compared to the same period in 2010. This was reported by the Ministry of Tourism and relayed by Aujourd’hui news outlet.

Similarly, foreign currency earnings increased by 3.5% during the first 5 months of this year compared to the same period last year, and 17% compared to 2010.

The tourism sector has created 50,000 direct jobs in 2013 and has trained nearly 38,000 young people.
