According to the last figures released by Morocco’s High Commission for planning (HCP), unemployment rate in Morocco witnessed an important increase during the second quarter of 2014.
As a matter of fact, while the number of unemployed Moroccans had already exceeded one million people last year, the number stood at 1.114 million by the end of the second quarter of 2014.
According to said source, around half of the unemployed persons in question are still looking for their first job (47.6%).
The HCP added that during the second quarter of 2014, unemployment among youth (from 15 year-old to 24 year-old people) rose from 18.4% to 19.2% .
Among fresh graduates, the number rose from 15.8% to 16.9%.
The HCP says that the difficult economic situation Morocco is going through is the main reason behind the noticed increase.
