The Ministry of Royal Household, Protocols and Chancellery announced that Princess Lalla Fatima Zahra, aunt of King Mohamed VI has passed away on Sunday morning. The funerals are to take place today after Al Asr prayer at the mosque of Ahl Fez in Rabat and she will be buried in Al Hassan Mausoleum.

Part of the statement issued by the ministry follows:

“The Ministry of the Royal Household, Protocol and Chancellery announces with deep sorrow and great sadness the death on the morning of Sunday 13th Shawwal 1435 corresponding to August 10, 2014 of Her Royal Highness Princess Lalla Fatima Zahra, daughter of His late Majesty King Mohammed V, the sister of His Majesty the late King Hassan II, God rest their souls, and aunt of HM King Mohammed VI, may God assist.”

Princess Lalla Fatima Zahra passed away in Tetouan. She was born on June 29th, 1929. She was married to Prince Moulay Ali and is the mother of Lalla Joumala, Moroccan Ambassador to the UK, Moulay Abdellah and Moulay Youssef. She was one of late Mohamed V children.
