The ministry of Transport and Equipment has launched two “Highway Studies Offers” regarding the Trans-Maghreb highway.

The first study concerns the linking of Fez-Oujda with East-West Algeria highways’ terminals. The Fez-Oujda highway has been actually operational since 2011 after four years of work with an investment of approximately $11 Billion.

The second study concerns the linking of Guelmin with Guergarat (Mauritanian border) across Tantan, Laayoune and Dakhla.

The future strategy aims at connecting 55 Great Maghreb economic cities from Mauritania to Libya via Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia.

By the end of this two highway projects, Morocco will then be completely connected to Algeria and Mauritania via highway terminals.
