After that Atletico’s coach Deigo Simeone slightly “hit” the assistant referee in the Super Cup final (video underneath), FIFA declared that he will be banned for 8 games. (4 games in La Liga, and 4 games in Super Cup)
The Argentinean coach was handed a four-match ban for that action, as well as a further two for protesting, one for sarcastically applauding the decision and a final match-ban for watching the second-half of the game from the front row of the stands, just behind the Atletico bench.
Diego will also have to pay a 4,805 euro fine, while Atletico Madrid was fined 2,800 Euros.
The club has only 10 days to appeal FIFA’s decision.
