After that Bayern Munich officially confirmed the luring of Mehdi Benatia in a press statement from the club two days ago, the player has put pen to paper yesterday and signed a five-year contract with the Bavarian club.

The last press statement from the high-rated club said that “Mehdi Benatia has officially joined FC Bayern. At 7.45 pm on Wednesday evening” and that he “has been assigned the squad number 5.”

“The Morocco captain signed a five-year contract in Munich, keeping him at Germany’s biggest club until 2019,” the statement added.

Benatia was reported to be very delighted to join the club. He was caught saying the following:

“I’m delighted to be here. It’s a real pleasure for me.

“It’s a huge opportunity for me. I’m now playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world,” the defender was reported to say on Bayern Munich’s official website.

FCB sporting director Matthias Sammer said: “We’re very happy Mehdi has decided to join us. We’re totally convinced by him.

“He’s a robust, hard-tackling defender who’s good in the build-up. He fills all the criteria required to play for Bayern Munich,” the man closed.

Benatia was reported to have told the Bavarian club’s official TV channel that “If a player receives an offer from Bayern Munich he basically can’t say no.”

The aforementioned communiqué added the the Moroccan talisman will be unveiled today and that he “is set for his first official training session at the Säbener Strasse after that.”

Bayern Munich’s official website also reported the player to have phoned Frank Ribery, which he personally knew since they played together once upon a time for Olympique Marseille.

Benatia said that Ribery “was already a star but I was still very young,” remembering his day back-then in Marseille.

“I’m really looking forward to being on the same team as him, but there are lots of other great champions here at Bayern,” the Moroccan defender closed.
