A recent statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs said that Morocco commends “the ceasefire agreement, concluded on August 26 between the Palestinian and Israeli parties which put an end to the sufferings of Gazans that lasted 51 days and caused a tragic, unprecedented humanitarian situation.”

“Morocco also insisted on the need to ensure that the agreement is durable, final and brings the necessary guarantees to avoid the recurrence of a similar Israeli aggression against Palestinians, calling for eradicating the causes of the crisis and of the Palestinians’ ordeals, notably the Israeli occupation and the blockade on its lands.

“Morocco also called for seizing the ceasefire opportunity to reinforce Palestinian national reconciliation which enabled the Palestinian brothers to defend their stances with closed ranks and revive the peace process to which Israel should adhere with seriousness, within the framework of reasonable talks with clear prospects leading to a final and lasting settlement for the Palestinian issue, pursuant to international law resolutions, and the establishment of an independent Palestinian state with Al Quds Asharif as capital.

“The Kingdom of Morocco also hails efforts made by Egypt, which has supervised and facilitated, over the past weeks, indirect talks between Palestinian and Israeli parties, and action by other parties which helped reaching this agreement.Morocco also lauded, on the same occasion, the Egyptian-Norwegian initiative to hold an international conference on the Gaza Strip reconstruction which is now possible.

“Morocco, which has always been the first to back and show solidarity with the Palestinian people as mirror the recent relief sent to Gaza upon the orders of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, is firmly determined to continue its support for the Palestinian brothers and contribute to international efforts to rebuild the Gaza Strip.

“In this regard, Morocco released a 3rd payment worth 2,583,519 dollars US as a contribution to complete the building of Al Quds hospital of specialties in Gaza,” the statement closed.
