The Moroccan daily Al Massae shared this morning a mind-blowing story in which it said that the Moroccan authorities arrested three members belonging to the same family for trying to sell, in the Moroccan city of Sefrou, a newborn baby girl for the modest sum of 500 Moroccan Dirhams, equivalent to 58 US Dollars.

Al Massae went on further to say that the newborn baby girl “came to existence out of an illegitimate relationship” and that “her mother is only 15-year-old.”

The 15-year-old mother is a student in La 5éme (the first year of high-school). Her family resides in the poor neighborhood of Nass Aâdloune in the old medina of Sefrou.

Annas, another Moroccan newspaper, shared this morning a story about the case as well. The outlet said that it all started when three members of the family went “for a walk” in the streets of the said city in prospect of a potential “buyer.”

Afterwards, the family was spotted by the waiter of a nearby café who suspected something very strange in the way the family was behaving, especially when approaching pedestrians. The good Samaritan called the police department of the 2nd arrondissement of the city to alert them about his suspicions.

Once the authorities arrived on the scenes, they decided to bait a hook. They sent a disguised agent who acted as a “potential buyer.” Once the family took the bait and agreed to sell the newborn baby girl for the modest sum of 500 DHs, the trick was played and the police elements intervened and arrested the three family members.

The public prosecutor at the Court of First Instance of the city of Sefrou decided to bring to justice the family.

What a mind-blowing story indeed!
