Five people, including two minors, were arrested near Lyon on suspicions of recruiting young women to join terrorist groups fighting in Syria.

The arrests were made on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings in the Lyon area in central France, according to Interior Minister Bernard Cazeneuve, the AFP reported.

According to said source, the brother and the sister of  two minors were arrested as well by the French authorities.

A statement from the French authorities said that those arrested were “suspected of having played a very active role in the recruitment and departure of several young women who left for Syria in the last few months”.

It is worth pointing out that few days ago, two teenage girls, aged 15 and 17, were arrested also in the Lyon region after it was revealed they were part of an “online jihadist network.”
