Mbarka Bouaida: “Algeria is Directly Involved in the Sahara Conflict and Must Strive to Find a Solution”

The Moroccan Minister Delegate to the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Ms. Mbarka Bouaida, lambasted the Algerian authorities for their direct involvement in the Sahara issue and for their nonchalance vis-à-vis finding an objective solution to the Sahara conflict.

The Moroccan minister, who was giving an interview to the Spanish news agency EFE on the sidelines of the Ministerial Conference on the stability and development in Libya, which took place Wednesday, September 17, 2014 in Madrid, said that “Algeria is directly involved in the Sahara conflict. Algeria should admit it and get involved to find a solution to this problem.”

Bouaida went on further to say that “the autonomy plan proposed by Morocco has been described as a serious and reliable plan by the international community,” adding that it is the “best solution” to solve the conflict.

On another note, the minister denied the existence of a “disagreement” between Morocco and the personal envoy of the UN Secretary General Mr. Christopher Ross, adding “that the Kingdom is involved in the process of political settlement of the Security Council.”
