3 French citizens, including a policeman, his wife and another policeman’s wife, received jail sentences today after “desecrating” a mosque in Mayotte, France. The three were arrested after putting a pig’s head in front of the main gate of a mosque, in addition to scattering pork meat around the same mosque.
The three element, all from Metropolis, were not present at their trial before the criminal court of Mamoudzou, a town which 90% of its citizens are Muslims.
The women were sentenced to a 9-month jail sentence each while the policeman received a 6-month sentence.
The incident dates back to the last new year eve. The 3 elements said they were “quite drunk” and they “had to honor a bet,” which had it that they “had to put a pig’s head in front of the main gate of the nearby mosque as well as scatter pork meat around it.”
The three were charged with “incitement to hatred, violence/discrimination because of religious affiliation” and “complicity.”
They were reported to have said earlier that they “were quite drunk and did not make sense of what they were doing at that moment.”
