According to a communiqué from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Jibril Rajoub, Vice Secretary General of Fatah movement and President of the Olympic Committee in Palestine, met the Moroccan Minister Foreign Affairs and Cooperation in Rabat in the presence of the Palestinian Ambassador to Morocco, Mr. Amine Abouhassira.
According to said source, the talks focused mainly “on the latest developments of the situation in the Palestinian territories” and “prospects after the cease-fire between the two sides”, in addition to “topics related to Palestinian reconciliation and the reconstruction of the Gaza Strip, lifting the blockade and end the occupation, by resuming the negotiation process between the Palestinian Authority and Israel to establish an independent Palestinian State, in accordance with legal international resolutions.”
“During this meeting, Mr. Mezouar said that the kingdom of Morocco, under the High Command of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Chairman of the Committee Alqods, will ensures the end of suffering of the Palestinian people and to support them with all means possible in order to end the occupation and lead to the establishment of an independent Palestinian state based on 1967 borders, with Alqods Sharif as its capital,” the communiqué from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs read.
“Furthermore, the Minister informed the Palestinian leader that Morocco welcomes the end of the Israeli aggression against Gaza, and encourages the re-launch of negotiations between the two parties for a full and fair peace, providing Palestinians with the right to establish an independent state.
“In this matter, Mr. Mezouar conveyed to Mr Rajoub, the support of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, on efforts to rebuild Gaza and the assistance brought to the population affected by the unjust Israeli aggression on the Palestinian territory.
“On his part, Mr. Rajoub expressed his thanks and gratitude to King Mohamed VI, may God assist Him, given the role He plays in favor of the Palestinian cause, stressing that the Palestinian people trust Morocco, as a key player in the implementation of a road map to end the occupation, to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip and its reconstruction, while accelerating the process of negotiations to achieve a fair and comprehensive peace, and strengthen the foundations of the national reconciliation among the different components of the Palestinian people.”
