Morocco announced few weeks ago the building of an electronic fence along its borders with Algeria. This latter reacted to Morocco’s decision by building a similar fence that stretches from the Mediterranean sea to the south.
The borders between the two neighboring countries have been closed for “security reasons” since 1994.
Morocco accuses Algeria of harming its territorial integrity by supporting Polisario while Algeria has recently accused Morocco of sowing discord between Arabs and Berbers in the Ghardaia region.
