In a speech given on the sidelines of the opening session of the Constitutive Assembly of Young African Parliamentarians Union, organized by the Chamber of representatives, an event which took place yesterday in Rabat, the Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Salaheddine Mezouar, said that “Africa must have control upon its destiny, for its children, men and women, underlining the need for African nations to benefit, themselves, from their wealth, to break with dependence, to build their future and to achieve their development on the basis of their own resources.”

Mezouar went on further to say “that Africa should not be viewed from the perspective of security and health problems, but from the angle of a continent which is rich of pioneer active and important political and economic elites, who can trigger the second revolution of Africa after that of independence,” a statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation read.

Mezouar stressed on the “preservation of the economic independence of African countries and the convergence of actions towards a successful partnership with Africa, stating that Morocco, given its African depth, is convinced that the solution to Africa’s problems are in the hands of Africans. “

“Africa, strong by its youth, its potential and its wealth, must have self confidence and should believe in its ability to play the role that fits into the world of today and tomorrow, and to achieve a strong economic growth that will benefit its peoples,” Mezouar said.
