Jorge Mendes: “Cristiano Ronaldo will NOT return to Manchester United and will retire in Madrid.”

Jorge Mendes, Cristiano Ronaldo’s agent, has claimed that his client will retire at Real Madrid. The FIFA Ballon d’Or has been heavily linked with a return to Manchester United, a club he played for from 2003 to 2009.

Mendes has insisted that Ronaldo is happy in Madrid and aims to finish his career at the Bernabeu. He said: “He is very happy at Madrid. It is impossible to lure Ronaldo away from Madrid. He breaks all the records and is regarded as the best athlete ever.”

He added: “Manchester United will always have a place in his heart, because he spent six years there. But he is only thinking about Madrid now and will always stay here. He is delighted to be at Madrid. People know that it is impossible to sign him, so it’s not even worth calling.”

The Portugal and Real Madrid star has made a scintillating start of the season by scoring 17 goals in eleven matches, including 13 in his six league games. He scored three or more goals in three of those matches to level La Liga’s hat-trick record of 22, shared by Real Madrid legend Alfredo Di Stéfano and Telmo Zarra. He has scored more league goals per game with 2.17 than 91 of 97 teams in Europe’s top five leagues.

Ronaldo has a contract with Real Madrid until the summer of 2018.
