On the sidelines of the opening ceremony of the Fourth Legislative Year of the Moroccan parliament, an event which witnessed King Mohammed VI give a speech on the occasion, Hamid Chabat, the head of Al Istiqlal Party and the Mayor of the city of Fes, and Aziz Lebbar, the head of the Party of Authenticity and Modernity’s House of Representative delegation, turned the Moroccan parliament into a boxing ring, though it was more of “Chabat turning into Michael Tyson for a while,” the one may say.
The fight occurred only few minutes after the end of the aforementioned ceremony.
Sources that witnessed the unbelievable scene said the scuffle was triggered when Chabat told Aziz Lebbar “Mabrouk L Eid.”
In response, Lebbar lauded him with critics and insults and told him literally “You sold the city of Fes … You are a Thief….”
Those words that were uttered in front of many Moroccan parliamentary members were more than enough to rush more adrenaline into Chabat’s blood and you can imagine what happened afterwards.
Sources that witnessed the altercation said that “things could have gone very very wrong if parliamentary members did not intervene to bring the scuffle into a halt.”
“The parliament turned into a boxing ring for a while,” a witness said.
