A statement from the South African police said that the murdered Moroccan diplomat Noureddine El Fatmi was killed probably with a knife after that the investigation team found a bloodstained knife in his apartment-hotel.

The South African authorities said that they sent the bloodstained knife to the competent authorities for DNA testing purposes.

Though we reported earlier that the case may have been the result of a robbery due to the high-criminality rate in South Africa, early investigation results have revealed that the personal belongings of the Moroccan diplomat were intact, which raises serious concerns over the real motifs behind killing Noureddine El Fatmi.

It is worth though recalling that the case was triggered back-then when his coworkers at the Moroccan embassy in Pretoria raised suspicions when he did not show up as usual to work on Tuesday.  The suspicions were amplified when his colleagues found out that his cellphone was off the whole time.

When his colleagues decided later on to head to his place, they discovered the late lying in the ground “in a pool of blood.”
