CAF Executive: “Egypt is Ready to Host the African Cup in Case Morocco Won’t”

Egyptian Abo Rida Hany, a CAF Executive Committee Member and EFA Vice President, said that in case Morocco apologizes for hosting the 2015 African cup of Nations, then other African counties will be ready to take over, namely Egypt, Algeria, Ghana, or even South Africa.

Abo Rida went on further to say, however, that Egypt and South Africa have more chances to take over as they have a better infrastructure, including sports facilities, hotels and others compared to the other aforementioned countries.

The CAF executive was reported to have said that the decision is political and concerns the host country [Morocco] in the first place.

It is worth reminding that Morocco has officially requested to postpone the upcoming African Cup of Nations 2015 due to the increasing Ebola epidemic threat, a request which was initially rejected by the CAF though promising the Moroccan officials to re-examine the case next November.
