Egypt Imposes Three-Month State of Emergency After 31 Soldiers Die in Attack

A three-month state of emergency has been imposed in Egypt following an attack on one of the country’s army checkpoints in the Sinai Peninsula, reports said.

According to BBC, three days of mourning was also declared throughout the country.

The attack was carried out on Friday evening. At least 31 soldiers were killed in the assault, RIA Novosti reported.

No individual or organization has yet claimed responsibility for the incident.

The United States, Morocco and the European Union have denounced the attack and offered their condolences to the families of the killed.
