An Algerian TV channel stopped its broadcast of the Star Academy prime after Ibtissam Tesket, a Moroccan contestant, started singing the song “Sawt Al Hassan”, which is about the Moroccan Sahara and the Green March.

Following this census, some Moroccan internet users have called upon all football fans who will attend the upcoming FIFA Clubs World Cup 2014 in Morocco to seize the opportunity to talk peacefully to all Algerian supporters, who will revert to Morocco to support Algeria’s ES Sétif, and to show them historical books and maps that confirm the Moroccanity of the Sahara.

The same Moroccan internet users said that “we need to react peacefully to such ongoing census and bring forth facts and only facts to our Algerian brothers to alert them about their despotic government ongoing techniques of census and propaganda campaigns that aim at separating Morocco from its Sahara for obvious political, and economic reasons.”

The Moroccan internet users stressed that “Moroccans should also welcome their Algerian brothers during the upcoming clubs world cup with flowers and hugs, and even invite them to their houses and offer them a traditional Moroccan meal to show them the real-love Moroccans bear for them.”
