The Deputy Director of the Department of Epidemiology and the Fight against Communicable Diseases at the Moroccan Ministry of Health, Dr. Abderrahmane Ben Mamoun, has revealed that “more than 600,000 Moroccans are Drug Users”.

According to Dr. Ben Mamoun, from the aforementioned number, 12000 to 16000 Moroccans would be addicted to hard drugs, namely heroin and cocaine.

Dr. Ben Mamoun said that this number is continually increasing, especially that Morocco lacks specialized staff and a good health infrastructure.

According to Dr. Ben Mamoun, statistics show that the northern region of Morocco is the most affected by drug addiction.
