The Moroccan Government will Give Taxi Owners Up to 80,000 DHs to Trade their Old Mercedes for Moroccan made Dacias.

According to the leading Moroccan economy news outlet Leconomiste, today marks the kick-off, in Casablanca, of the Moroccan government campaign aimed at encouraging taxi owners to change the old Mercedes 240 taxis, which date back to the 1980s, with the new Morocco manufactured Dacia Lodgy.

The Moroccan government has made it clear last summer that it is ready to contribute with a sum of 80000 dirhams as a scrapping amount in order to encourage drivers to abandon their old cars and acquire the Dacia Lodgy.

The amount includes also a contribution from Group Renault Maroc, namely a discount of 10,000 dirhams to help with this procedure.

The main aim behind this campaign is helping improve the air quality of major Moroccan cities, especially Casablanca, Morocco’s industrial hub.
