Mezouar in China Despite King Mohammed VI’s Illness

A statement from the Moroccan Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation said that Morocco’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation Salaheddine Mezouar held talks yesterday in Beijing with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi.

The statement said that the Chinese chief diplomat expressed his country’s “full understanding regarding the compelling health reasons” which were behind the postponing of King Mohammed VI ‘s official visit to China.

“The Chinese minister asked me to convey to HM King Mohammed VI Chinese President Xi Jinping’s heartfelt wishes of prompt recovery”, Mezouar told Maghreb Press Agency.

The Moroccan Foreign Ministry’s statement further noted that “the Moroccan FM added that the meeting was an occasion for the two countries to reaffirm their resolve to bring their bilateral relations to a strategic level.”
