The Moroccan authorities released a communiqué following the killing, on Wednesday December 10th, 2014, of the Palestinian Minister Mr. Ziad Abu Ein, in charge of the Settlements and Annexation Wall portfolio, by an Israeli officer.

The communiqué reads the following:

“Following the death, on Wednesday December 10th, 2014, of the Palestinian Minister in charge of the Settlements and Annexation Wall portfolio, Mr. Ziad Abu Ein, and which was caused by the violence shown against him by the Israeli occupation forces while he was planting, along with other Palestinian activists, some olive trees, symbol of peace, the Kingdom of Morocco expresses to Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas, Abu Mazen, and through him, to the Martyr’s family, the most sincere feelings of condolences and sympathy following this loss.

“While reaffirming its constant position in favor of the Palestinian cause and its total solidarity with the brotherly Palestinian people, the Kingdom of Morocco stressed that the escalation practiced by Israeli authorities against the Palestinian population will serve the interests of no party.

“Convinced of the need for Israel to change its approach in treating the legitimate claims of Palestinian people, which will lead to the exacerbation of hatred and revenge, and will fuel extremism and terrorism, Morocco calls for giving a chance to peace, the only option likely to favor the establishment of stability and peace in Middle East and the world.”
