The field of Moulay Abdellah Stadium was heavily waterlogged during yesterday’s game.

Following yesterday’s farcical conditions which saw the Australian side of Western Sydney Wanderers and the Mexicans of Cruz Azul literally suffer to pass balls during the whole 120 minutes of the game, various Spanish media heavily criticized the quality of the field and even the FIFA.

For example, the daily sports newspaper AS called the waterlogged pitch of Moulay Abdallah Stadium “a potato field.”

The same outlet said that playing in such conditions is very risky for the safety of the players of Real Madrid as it will make them prone to injuries.

The author of the said article also wondered whether the FIFA tested the quality of the pitch before the start of the tournament.
