Gareth Bale to Manchester United?

Gareth Bale to Manchester United?

Gareth Bale.
Gareth Bale.

Gareth Bale has given the green light to a high profile return to the Premier League with Manchester United in the summer.

Sunday Express Sport can reveal that the Wales international has been made aware of the Old Trafford interest and their commitment to smashing their club transfer record for the £80 million valued forward, Daily Express reported.

The club’s owners the Glazers want to go down the Galacticos route to increase United’s value with an eventual asking price of £3 billion if they eventually decide to sell.

United actually offered Spurs more than the world record £86 million Real Madrid handed over when Bale left White Hart Lane 18 months ago but by then the transfer to the Bernabeu was too far down the line.

Even then the player wasn’t adverse to a move to Old Trafford and it’s believed that the prospect of a return to this country at the end of the season appeals to him and his family.

Old Trafford boss Louis Van Gaal is a big fan of the Welshman and would be happy to break the United buying record he set with the capture of another Real Madrid player, Angel Di Maria for £59.7 million.

Real Madrid would want most of their original outlay on Bale before parting with a player who helped them win the Champions League, scoring in the final against Atletico Madrid in Lisbon in May.

It would mean United coming up with around £80 million – a figure in a Galactico driven era which won’t cause a problem.

There’s no chance of Real Madrid selling Bale in the January window – a fact United are well aware of.

It’s the same story with their two other main transfer targets, Roma’s Kevin Strootman and Borussia Dortmund’s Mats Hummels.

If Van Gaal signs all three in the summer it’s likely to beat last summer’s outlay of £156 million.
