An Algerian militant, suspected of belonging to Jund Al Khilafa, an ISIS affiliated terrorist group in Algeria, which claimed responsibility for beheading French hostage Hervé Gourdel last year, was arrested in eastern Morocco, after having crossed illegally the Moroccan-Algerian borders.

A statement from Morocco’s state media Maghreb Press Agency, relaying from Morocco’s Ministry of Interior Affairs, said that “the Algerian national was arrested between Beni Drar and Ahfir in possession of large quantities of dangerous substances, wireless communication tools and firearms.”

“The suspect will be brought before justice for further investigation under the supervision of the General Prosecutor,” Maghreb Agency Press further noted.
