Leading Moroccan Gynecologist Dr. Chafik Chraïbi, president of the Association against illegal abortion, was sacked from his duties as the head of the department of maternity in hospital Les Orangers in Rabat, a job he has been holding for the last 30 years.

The decision of the Moroccan Ministry of Health came as a direct result of the man’s reflections, takes and analysis on clandestine abortion in Morocco in the well-known investigative show “Envoyé spécial,” broadcast by France 2 television (video underneath).

The Moroccan Ministry of Health said in a recent communiqué that Dr. Chafik Chraïbi “breached various times the code of ethics and conduct” his job entails.

The communiqué further noted that the man “did not take permisson to record the show and allowed the unveiling of unwed mothers and some nurses’s faces without taking their permission,” which is punishable by law.

Dr. Chafik Chraïbi answered back the communiqué saying that France 2 was given the permission to record the said show by the Moroccan Ministry of Communication, further stressing that he “took the permisson of the nurses and the unwed mothers and that those latter are denying it because of the pression they were subjected to.”
