The Moroccan city of Rabat is currently hosting the meeting of the Working Group on the evaluation and implementation of the Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism, organized, on 17th, 18th, and 19th February 2015, by Morocco and the Co -chairs of the GICNT, the United States of America and the Russian Federation.

Morocco’s Secretary General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Mr. Nasser Bourita, said that “the meeting comes in a critical context, marked by the upsurge of violent and barbaric terrorist acts around the world,” further noting that “terrorism has become the major challenge and the main threat to international security.”

A statement from Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and cooperation said that first session of the meeting “was attended by around 200 representatives from 85 partner countries of the GICNT, experts in the field of prevention, detection and response to radiological and nuclear incidents, as well as international observer organizations such as (IAEA, INTERPOL, EU and UNODC).”
