Morocco’s capital Rabat hosted the 10th session of the Morocco-EU Association Committee opened last Tuesday, an event  co-chaired by the Director of the European Union and Mediterranean Process at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, Ms. Karima Kabbaj, and the Managing Director at the European External Action Service Mr. Hugues Mingarelli.

A statement from Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and cooperation said that “the purpose of this meeting is to review the status of cooperative issues between the two sides in various fields, on the eve of the debate opened by the European Union on a new neighborhood policy.”

The same source added that during the meeting, and regarding security cooperation, Morocco and EU are discussed the prospective “signing of a framework agreement to participate in military operations and civilian missions of the Common Security and Defense Policy with the Kingdom, as well as a framework agreement on security procedures for the exchange of classified information.”

During the meeting, both parties also discussed the “financial cooperation for the period 2014-2017.”
