The United Nations General Assembly appointed yesterday Ms. Aisha Afifi as a member of the Joint Inspection Unit of the United Nations System.
This confirms “the recognition by the international community of the experience and expertise of the Moroccan diplomacy in international Organisations,” a statement from Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs read in the wake of the event.
Ms. Aisha Afifi was elected yesterday after receiving 131 votes.
It is worth reminding that Ms. Afifi has also held in the past various responsibilities within the UN, including being a member of the UN Committee on Budget and Finance, and representing the African continent within the Joint Inspection Unit of the United Nations System, for 5 years.
