Following the snowball of lies advanced by the Nigerian authorities and various Nigerian medial outlets, saying that king Mohammed VI had a telephone conversation with the Nigerian President Goodluck Jonathan, the Moroccan authorities called back their ambassador to Nigeria for consultations, and released a communiqué refuting the Nigerian authorities lies.

In the said communiqué, Morocco stressed that “to the contrary to what the Nigerien authorities have advanced to the Moroccan Ambassador in Abuja, and to what the Nigerian medias stated, the Kingdom of Morocco confirms, in the clearest and strongest terms, that no telephone conversation between King Mohammed VI and the Nigerian President took place.”

“The Kingdom of Morocco expresses its astonishment and condemn the Nigerian authorities unethical practices, which goes against the spirit of responsibility that must govern relations between States,” the statement noted further.

The communiqué re-stressed why the Moroccan monarch refused to respond favorably to Nigeria’s president demand requesting a telephone conversation between the two heads of state, saying that “the request of the Nigerian authorities seems more like an act for getting back the Muslim electorate of this country than a normal diplomatic initiative,” in addition to Nigeria’s “repetitive unfriendly and hostile positions of the Nigerian Government, regarding the issue of the Moroccan Sahara and the sacred Arab – Muslim causes, particularly that of the brotherly Palestinian people.
