Morocco’s head of the government, Mr. Abdellilah Benkirane.

Morocco’s head of government, Abdellilah Benkirane said recently while giving his opinion on the good performance Itissalat Al Maghrib made during last year that “the recent results of the census show that there are 33 Million Moroccans, while the number of subscribers to the various telephone operators in Morocco is floating around 47 Million.”

Benkirane was referring to the High Commission for Planning (HCP) recent results of the 6th General Census, which showed that the number of Moroccan citizens stand at 33,848,242.

However, on social media platforms, various Moroccans took Benkirane’s statement, with a pinch of salt, as many were caught very skeptic vis-à-vis the numbers advanced by the HCP.

A recent Vox pop conducted by Akhbar Al Yaoum showed that various Moroccans did not take seriously the results of the census as they thought the numbers were understated for a reason or another.
