Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- According to communiqué released yesterday by Morocco’s Royal Armed Forces (FAR), 26-year-old Moroccan pilot Yassine Bahti, whose F-16 jet crashed last Sunday in Yemen, has passed away.

The statement said that the special team that included a commando and squadrons, who were dispatched in the Northern region of Yemen, located what is supposed to be Yassine’s corpse.

The statement further noted that Yassine’s corpse will be repatriated to Morocco, upon the request of King Mohammed VI, after the confirmation of his identity by a team of geneticists.

It is worth reminding that the Houthis claimed responsibility for shooting down the Moroccan F-16, but the Moroccan authorities refuted the claims, stressing that “after conducting an initial investigation,” they reached the conclusion that the F-16 went down either because of a “technical problem “or because of a “human error.”
