Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- In the wake of the 11th edition of the national gathering of the youth section of the Justice and Development party in Marrakesh, former Tunisian president Moncef Marzouki, a guest of honor, said that “political conflicts are the main obstacle to the unity of the Maghreb.”

“Quite honestly, I think we should be proud of our Arabism, our Islamic identity and our Amazigh one. I propose that we call it the Maghreb Union, without qualifying it as Arab or Amazigh,” Marzouki said.

“We need things that unite us, not things that divide us,” Marzouki stressed.

“Conflicts between secular and Islamists are artificial ones that must be overcome.”

“I urge Moroccans to appreciate the king and the monarchy, because it is the symbol of the unity of the nation,” Marzouki stressed.
