Rabat, Morocco (TMT)- As a wave of sadness and compassion has befell Morocco in the wake of the death of the young architect Amine Ibnolmobarak, some of his friends as well as many strangers gathered last Sunday night in front of the glass windows of Le Carillon cafe, though pockmarked with bullet holes. They laid out flowers and candles in memory of Amine and all victims of terror.

The video underneath features two short interviews conducted by Le360 with two of the late’s friends while remembering him in front of said cafe. The Moroccan Times is providing a translation below the video for readers who don’t understand the French and the Moroccan dialect.

Translation:

Mehdi Kasri (a friend of the late): “I got to know the late for a long time. We practiced Swimming together when we were kids in the Club De La Justice complex in Hay Riad, Rabat.

“We studied as well together in Lycée Descartes in Rabat. When Amine came to France, he initially wanted to pursue his higher education in Medicine, in the city of Bordeaux. But then he went for Architecture studies in Paris,” Kasri said while remembering Amine.

“He was clearly succeeding in his life and he just got married last summer in Rabat. Amine and his wife were dining at the Carillon with some friends, before the start of the assault.

“He was a very friendly and happy person. Someone you could count on when you need help, indeed a good person. May Allah have mercy on him.

“I know he enjoyed coming to cafe Carillon as it was one of his most preferred places,” Kasri said.

Sophia Benmesaoud (another friend of the late):

“Amine was my childhood friend and I got to know him when he was a 6-year-old boy.

“We practiced swimming for around 15 years together and we have participated in many swimming competitions around Morocco. Needless to say that we studied together in Lycée Descartes in Rabat,” Sophia stressed.

“Amine came to France one year before me and when I came to Paris he helped me settle in. He was a great guy, full of life, a brilliant person, and an artist,” Sophia added.

“Today we are here to remember him after this sad event. His death hit me hard. It really got to me,” Sophia closed.
