Prevention is the 2015 theme of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women on 25th November and of the UNiTE to End Violence against Women Campaign’s 16 days call for action. But different people are engaged in different actions! A case in point is: Brian Sloan was an attorney before he turned to manufacture sex toys. It is said money makes many things. But, in the case of Brian, many things – even sex toys can be made to make money!
The objectification of women in the free world and in the times of the feminists is now assuming quite alarming proportions. The World’s 1st Vaginal Beauty Pageant was held by former Attorney-turned-Sex-Toy-manufacturer Brian Sloan in Germany this month.
The girl with the best vagina selected by online voters won a $5,000 prize. There were two other prizes of lesser denominations. The concept of ‘inner beauty’ is being stretched too far by Brian. It is interesting or for some people it is even disgusting to note that the Sexual Wellness industry’s US revenues are estimated at $15billion with a projected growth to $52billion by 2020. Brian is giving the Chinese sex toy manufacturers, a run for their money. He is popular on the Beijing social circuit.
The Brian script goes like this: First, Brian Sloan looks at womens’ vaginas. He pays them for the visual treat. He holds a contest to shortlist women with the most beautiful vagina so that he could make loads of money before young men can load their masculinity into his vagina-shaped sex toy modelled on the vaginas of the Vaginal Beauty Pageant.
Brian agrees that it is not inaccurate to call him an as* h*le. He glorifies himself in objectification of women and does not find it sexist. He counters: ‘They didn’t call it sexist when dildos were made from men’s penises.’ A private television channel chased him for a week in Berlin to have an interview with him. The girls who agreed for the vaginal display did not mince words and had their own explanations of doing the vulgar and degrading video shoot with a scanning camera. ‘My boyfriend made me do it.’ ‘I decide what to do with my body.’ This exactly what the feminists argue. But, isn’t this too far- fetched?
Where does one draw the line? When women are objectified as sex models just to make some money, the so-called civilized society must act before all semblance of morality and respect for women is lost in front of the growing children and the youth. How can violence be contained against women, if there is so much titillation in our society.
Till the time of filing this report 19,69,880 people had viewed the video showing Brian Sloan filming the vaginas of the young girls, who giggled and accepted $500 each for sharing their modesty with the rest of the world! Thousands of people have liked this video, which shows the abysmal depths that people’s tastes and preferences have fallen to.
The United Nations, Women’s Non-governmental Oorganizations (NGOs), heads of governments and heads of states should act in unison to stop this objectification of women through such perverted displays of vulgarity. There should be no more vaginal beauty pageants in the future. There is already a high incidence of violence against women in many countries. It is vital that objectification of women may also be classified as a form of violence and made punishable by law.
What matters most is that there should be an emphasis on the beauty of the mind and the soul. Physical beauty is only skin deep.
Leave obsession with femme fatale’s bodies, try to reach out for the souls!
