Rabat, Morocco(TMT)- According to the Moroccan daily Assabah, Morocco’s newly created Central Bureau of Judicial Investigation (BCIJ), an offshoot of Morocco’s domestic intelligence agency (DGST), participated in the dismantling of two sleeping terrorist cells that were planning to carry out a series of attacks in Barcelona, Spain.

Assabah said that the Spanish authorities have received from their Moroccan counterparts information about suspicious elements on Spanish soil, elements who were constantly moving between Spain, France and Belgium (First terrorist cell).

Assabah said as well that the second piece of information, concerning the second terrorist cell, shed light on elements who were active in Barcelona and northern Morocco.

According to Assabah, the cooperation between Morocco and Spain has lead to the nabbing of many Spanish terrorists, most of whom are of Moroccan origin.
